Leadership
As President, Peter is responsible for leading the GW Net Impact Chapter in support of its mission, developing the Chapter’s strategic plan, building relationships within and across other schools, clubs and Net Impact Chapters, and acting as the primary liaison to Net Impact Central. As a first-year MBA Student, Peter is focused on the intersection of Decision Sciences and Environmental Sustainability. Prior to joining the GW community, Peter worked in Internet marketing as the Vice President for MegaHunter, and as an environmental and energy consultant at Mennonite Central Committee in Tanzania. Peter is also the owner of a small business, Widmer International that provides research and consulting services to companies and nonprofits worldwide. Peter has studied, lived and work abroad in Latin America, Europe and East Africa, and he hopes to use his MBA to develop responsible energy and environmental management strategies within the United States and throughout the world.
VP, Communications and Membership – Michelle Gorman
Michelle is responsible for creating awareness about the GW Net Impact chapter by promoting events and initiatives through the website and newsletter, as well as increasing membership by marketing the club to both prospective and current students. She is a first-year MBA student at GWU with a focus in organizational development. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan and subsequently worked at the Embassy of Israel in Washington, D.C. Michelle most recently lived in Bratislava, Slovakia as a Jewish Service Corps Fellow, working on community and leadership development. Upon receiving her MBA, Michelle looks to leverage her organizational and programming experience to help businesses grow and work efficiently.
VP, Finance – Andreas Schneider
Prior to enrolling in the GMBA program, Andreas worked at Cambridge Advisors to Family Enterprise. At CAFE, Andreas helped several large family businesses with issues relating to succession and transition planning, family governance, and educating younger generations on the best practices of managing family-owned/-controlled businesses. He also served as a co-facilitator in Harvard Business School’s Families in Business program, an annual executive education course.
At GW Andreas is focusing on sustainable urban economic development. As NetImpact’s VP of Finance, he takes care of budgeting and reimbursements, helps manage fundraising efforts, and assists with event planning.
VP, Service – Tammy Ram
Tammy manages the club’s Board Fellows and ServiceCorps programs and coordinates GW Net Impact community service events. Tammy attended the University of Michigan and graduated with a B.S. in General Biology and a secondary teaching certificate. Upon graduation Tammy taught Biology and English to 8th and 9th grade students at the American School of Quito, Ecuador. She subsequently worked as a Site Director for Camp Fire USA Alaska Council managing a before- and after-school program and summer program for elementary age children. Tammy is a first-year GMBA student focusing her studies in non-profit management with the goal of leading an organization offering unique youth development programming.
VP, Career Development and Curriculum – Daniel Stoops
Daniel’s role on the GW Net Impact Board is to expand members’ access to career and educational opportunities related to social and environmental sustainability. Career development responsibilities include planning career treks to local firms, organizing career and internship panels, and acting as a liaison between the Chapter, the Career Center, and potential employers. Educational opportunities center around supporting the school’s unique Certificate for Responsible Management, as well as addressing sustainability curriculum gaps identified by members.
Daniel is a 2013 MBA candidate in the full-time program at The George Washington University School of Business. He is pursuing a concentration in Strategic Management and Public Policy. Prior to attending GW, Daniel enjoyed five years working in the Rates and Financial Planning group for Seattle Public Utilities (City of Seattle). Daniel holds a BS in Economics with a minor in Environmental Studies from the University of Washington. Daniel also serves as VP of Pro Bono Client Relations for the GW Consulting Club. He plans to apply his experience and ongoing management education toward a career in public sector consulting.
VP, Environmental Initiatives – Scott Weiss
Scott Weiss is a current MBA candidate at George Washington University, pursuing a career in energy efficiency and renewable energy. He has an economics and IT background, most recently serving as the IT Chief of Staff at CarMax, where he was responsible for the financial strategic direction of the IT Department. At CarMax, he also cofounded CarMax’s first internal environmental sustainability strategy. At GW, he is actionably pursuing his passion for implementing energy and sustainability solutions through his positions as VP Environmental Initiatives in Net Impact and VP External Affairs in the GW Energy Club. Scott received his undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond, with degrees in economics and finance.
VP, Social Responsibility – Sidhartha Nilakanta
I am originally from Iowa and went to Iowa State University to get my BS in History and Anthropology with a minor in Political Science. After I graduated I joined AmeriCorps in Florida and volunteered for a year. My specific function was helping high school students stay in school and graduate. I also helped with volunteer projects on the weekends which involved Habitat for Humanity, registration drives for nonprofits, literacy drives, and much more. After my year of service, I earned a job at the Urban League of Palm Beach County as a Program Coordinator for an after school program. My job was to help high school students in schools across Palm Beach County stay in school and graduate. I also helped with Urban League volunteer events that helped the surrounding community. These would include holiday toy and food drives, health screenings, financial aid help, and many more areas. After 2 years at the Urban League, I decided to go to business school and was accepted to the George Washington School of Business. My interests range from Green Energy, International Development, Education, and Nonprofits. I hope to find a future career in any of these areas where I can make a positive impact in the world.
MPP/MPA Liaison – Meredith Pringle
Meredith’s greatest responsibility as the MPP/MPA liaison is to increase the collaboration and the networking between Net Impact and the Masters of Public Administration and Public Policy students. Her goal is to increase membership within in the Trachtenberg School as well as bring interesting events to those students and Net Impact members. Meredith has experience in credit risk consulting and audit and is working towards her Masters of Public Policy focusing on public to private partnership, corporate social responsibility and regulatory policy.
Elliot School Liaison – Carolyn Dunlea
Carolyn Dunlea is a 3rd year dual MA ITIP/MBA in International Business at the George Washington University Elliot School/School of Business. Her interests are alternative energy and sustainability. She went to undergrad at Syracuse University majoring in International Relations with a focus on International Political Economy and Europe. She spent a year and a half studying abroad in France in Paris and Strasbourg. She also has made several trips to Costa Rica as her family owns a tree farm there. Carolyn currently works for Kratos Defense, a defense consulting firm where she provides financial, program, and government budget execution support to Navy programs utilizing excel and other software programs including SAP ERP.
PMBA Program Liaison – Eugenia Gregorio
Eugenia is a 1st year, part-time MBA student at GWSB, on the Net Impact Board as PMBA Program Liaison, and the Fundraising Chair for the Business Response 3.0 conference. She graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 2002 and currently works full-time for a real estate and property management company based in the Washington, D.C metropolitan area. Eugenia is the Sustainability Manager, responsible for green building and sustainability initiatives for $4 million square feet of a commercial and residential building portfolio.
She has 10 years of professional work experience in construction management, construction consulting services, and implementation of green building and corporate sustainability initiatives. She has been a very active member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) National Capitol Region since 2005 and was previously co-chair of the Programs Committee, responsible for organizing networking and educational green building events for the local community. She plans to focus her MBA in Corporate Social Responsibility and obtain the GWSB Certificate in Responsible Management.
Chair of Board Fellows – Stephan Kallus
Stephan assists the VP of Service in managing the Board Fellows Program. Originally from West Orange NJ, Stephan received his B.S. in Supply Chain Management and Marketing from the University of Maryland. He has experience in the consulting sector, working for large federal agencies such as USPS, US Marshals, DOD, and the Navy, providing strategy and operations process improvement consulting. After graduation, Stephan will pursue a career in process improvement consulting within the education and healthcare field.
Chair of Campus Sustainability – Disha Modi
Prior to joining GWU, Disha worked for two years as a Junior Analyst at JP Morgan in Mumbai, India as a part of the Retail Financial Services IT Admin team. She completed her undergraduate studies in Bachelors of Management Studies with a concentration in Finance at the University of Mumbai. She has also completed a two-year Masters course in Commerce at the University of Mumbai. Disha has developed a keen interest in sustainable business and feels very strongly the urge to contribute to solving sustainability issues of corporations. She seeks a career transition into Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management at GWSB. Disha is passionate about travelling to places of natural beauty and has been to over 20 countries so far. She utilizes her free time by reading fiction and going for long walks.
Chair of Membership & Communications - Emily Sherrod
Emily is a first- year MPA candidate at GWU concentrating in Policy Analysis & Evaluation and Social Policy. She is originally from Birmingham, Alabama and received her B.A. in Communication from the College of Charleston. Most recently, she worked in the development department at Slow Food USA, focusing on membership communication and donor research. Prior to this, she served as an AmeriCorps*VISTA at a Title One elementary school in North Charleston, SC. There, she focused on program management and grant writing. Emily hopes to increase her exposure to sustainable development practices and management through Net Impact.
Chair of Events & Partnerships - Rachael Sherman
Rachael R. Sherman is completing a Global M.B.A and M.A. in International Affairs at the George Washington University’s’ Elliott School of International Affairs. She completed a B.A in Asian Studies at the University of British Columbia where she was also involved in volunteer activities such as research on illegal wildlife trade for T.R.A.F.F.I.C. From 2006-2010 she lived in Beijing, China where she studied Mandarin at Peking University, acted as the general manager for a non-profit community center, managed sales and marketing for a private-public joint venture village renovation project and served as a consultant for the World Wildlife Fund Beijing office’s China Shift program focusing on Chinese investments overseas. During her first year in DC Rachael worked as an intern in the GW Office of Sustainability managing the Green Office Program and creating a sustainable procurement policy for the university. In the summer of 2011 she worked with Efficiency Exchange on the China Sustainable Retail Supply Chain project. Rachael is passionate about promoting environmental sustainability and cross sector cooperation.
